“Polarity” | Paintings on canvas and on paper by Aleksandra Niemczyk
GALLERY WHITE BOX, 5 Hare and Billet Road, Blackheath, SE3 0RB.
Weekends only, 11.00 am to 6.00 pm (or weekdays by appointment).
Aleksandra Niemczyk is an abstract painter living and working in Blackheath/Greenwich, London. She uses mixed media techniques to create non-figurative paintings of vibrant intensity and colour. With respect for the great non-figurative modernists of the past, Niemczyk demonstrates uncompromising dedication to abstract expressionism based on “organic geometry” and colour theory. Her paintings accrue a sense of tactility through Niemczyk’s extended experimentation with textile and application: silk, cotton, paper, thick oil or acrylic paint, asphalt, and gold leaf.
Niemczyk’s latest collection, “Polarity,” extends the artist’s experimentation with contrasting colours, locating a delicate balance between the urge to harmonize these contrasts versus the desire to maintain their tension.
The artist’s formal training includes an MA in Fine Arts (Painting and Lithography) and MA in Film Directing from Béla Tarr’s radical film.factory program in Sarajevo. Niemczyk exhibits internationally, and her works feature in many private and public art collections, including Focus Bank and the Louis Vuitton Art Collection in Oslo, Norway.
Recently, her works were presented at The Mall Galleries, London, during the Royal Society of British Artists 200th Anniversary Exhibition.
