This month we are featuring Kathy Drake

Kathy is a sculptor and painter who has been based in Blackheath much of her adult life.She began sculpting first: creating original figures in wax and clay and casting these herself in cement fondu and bronze resin. About 15 years ago she started painting, initially in oils, but more recently using acrylics on canvas and pastels. Her focus is on the emotional impact of the landscape she observes whether locally or abroad. She particularly enjoys texture and intense colour in an impressionistic way. She occasionally includes figures. Most recently she has also been creating still life compositions of flowers which reflect her love of gardening.

Kathy has exhibited with Greenwich Open Studios for a number of years as well as in other local exhibitions. She has been on the committee of Blackheath Art Society over that period.
