The Blackheath Art Society in South East London was launched in 1947 by a group of distinguished artists and educators with links to Goldsmiths College, Camberwell School of Art and the Royal Academy. Graham Sutherland was first President to the Society, Victor Pasmore the second, and our current President is Terry Scales former lecturer at Camberwell Art College.
Many of the members who today work as artists or designers and in art education studied at these colleges and at other prestigious art institutions both in the UK and abroad.
The Blackheath Art Society holds annual exhibitions locally each year and also meets for sketching and photography trips, visits to art galleries and museums.
